Marsh management system

Privacy

No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and your data is never sold.

Read the Privacy Policy

Effective October 8, 2026

Sturlese Field App is a private app for members of a waterfowl hunting club. This policy explains what the app collects, how it collects it, why, who else receives it, how long it is kept, and how to delete it.

What we collect and how

  • Account details: your name, email address or username, and a securely hashed password, entered when you create your account. If you signed in with Apple or Microsoft, we received the account identifier and the email and name that provider shares.
  • Club content you create: hunt reports (dates, blinds, hunters, dogs, harvest counts and notes), blinds and pins with their map coordinates, photos and feedback, entered in the app's forms.
  • Licenses and stamps: hunting licenses and stamps you upload (photos or PDFs, with their expiry dates), and, for club admins, club expenses and their receipts.
  • AI chat text: the messages you type or dictate in AI chat and the replies, only if you turn AI chat on. See "Third-party AI" below.
  • Location: only while you use the app, when you capture a blind or pin position, center the map on yourself or load the weather where you are. We do not track location in the background.
  • Microphone and speech: only after you tap Listen in AI chat. Apple's speech recognition turns your speech into text; we receive the text, not the recording.
  • Device token for push notifications, if you allow notifications.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address and time, which we use only for security and troubleshooting.

We do not use advertising, do not track you across other apps or websites, and do not sell personal data.

How we use it

Only to run the club's app: to show hunt reports, blinds, photos, season totals and weather to members; to send the notifications you allow; to answer the AI chat requests you send; to keep the service secure; and to reply to your support requests.

Who can see it

Club content (hunt reports, blinds, shared pins and photos) and your name and email address are visible to the other active members of your club. Private pins are visible only to you. Licenses and stamps you upload are visible only to you and your club's admins. Club expenses and their receipts are visible only to club admins.

Third-party AI (SpaceXAI)

AI chat is optional and off until you turn it on. When you use it, our server sends your request to SpaceXAI (xAI), the third-party company that makes the Grok model, and shows you its reply. What is sent depends on the mode:

  • Every mode: the message you type or dictate, plus the recent messages in that conversation.
  • Fill forms: also the names of the club's blinds, so it can match the one you mean.
  • Club data: also the club records needed for the answer: recent hunt reports with their hunters, bag and notes, blind names and notes, and season totals by hunter, blind and species. Those records can include other members' names and notes.

The app never adds your email address, location, photos or voice recording to a request. In Club data mode the hunter names on the club's records, including yours when you were on a hunt, are part of what is sent. The app shows this disclosure and asks for your permission the first time you open AI chat; your answer is saved to your account, so you are not asked again. If you don't allow it, AI chat stays off and our server never sends your requests to SpaceXAI. Club data questions from members who do allow it use the club's shared hunt records, which can include your name and hunts. You can change your answer at any time in Profile → Privacy & safety → AI chat sharing. Under SpaceXAI's enterprise terms, the text we send and the replies are not used to train its models and are deleted within 30 days, unless they are flagged for abuse or must be kept by law. SpaceXAI's privacy policy: x.ai/legal/privacy-policy.

Service providers

These companies process data only to provide their service to us, under terms that require them to protect your data to the same or an equal standard as this policy. None of them may use it for their own purposes.

  • Render hosts our server and database (privacy policy). Cloudflare R2 stores photos and uploaded files privately (privacy policy).
  • Expo (privacy policy) and Apple Push Notification service deliver notifications; they receive your device token and the notification text.
  • SpaceXAI: see "Third-party AI" above.
  • Open-Meteo receives coordinates (a blind, the map area or your current position) to return weather and wind forecasts and past weather. Element 84 Earth Search receives map areas to return satellite imagery. Apple Maps displays the map.
  • Windy (windy.com) displays the wind map. It loads the club's marsh area, not your position.
  • Apple (speech recognition, and sign-in if you use it) and Microsoft (sign-in, if you use it).

Retention

We keep your account details and club content while your account is active. We do not store AI chat conversations: the app keeps them in memory only until it is closed or someone else signs in, and SpaceXAI deletes its copy within 30 days as described above. An AI reply you report goes to the club's feedback log for the admins, with your name. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security. When you delete your account, the data listed below is erased at once.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account (also under Privacy & safety). No email or phone call is needed. Deletion is immediate and permanent: it signs you out everywhere and erases your name, email address, password and sign-in identity, any messages you sent, the photos you added to hunt reports (removed from our storage and from the club's reports), your private pins, your feedback, the licenses and stamps you uploaded, your blocked-member list and your AI chat choice, and the app's data and photo files on your phone. Your name is removed from every hunt report in the club's records and replaced with an anonymous label such as "Deleted User 4". The hunt records themselves (dates, blinds, birds, dogs and notes) stay complete under that label because they are the club's shared harvest records, so other members' records and season totals stay accurate; they no longer show your name or link to your account. Blinds you created stay as club locations with no link to you.

Security

Access is protected by encrypted connections, passwords are stored hashed, and photos are stored in a private bucket reachable only through short-lived links.

Children

Sturlese Field App is intended for club members and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when our practices change. Questions or requests: [email protected].

Terms

For invited club members. Hunt legally and safely; members who break these terms can be removed.

Read the Terms of Use

Effective October 8, 2026

These terms apply to Sturlese Field App, together with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. By creating an account or signing in, you agree to them.

Who may use Sturlese Field App

Sturlese Field App is for invited members of the club. Keep your password private and tell us if you think your account has been misused.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse

Do not post or send content that is harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, violent, defamatory or illegal, and do not abuse other members. The app refuses prohibited language in reports automatically.

  • Any member can report a hunt report (Report to club admins) and can block the member who posted it, so that member's hunt reports and photos no longer appear.
  • Club admins review reports and act within 24 hours by removing the content and, where appropriate, removing the member who posted it.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You allow the club and its members to view and use it within Sturlese Field App for club purposes. Only post photos and information you have the right to share.

AI chat

AI chat is optional. It is off until you turn it on in the app after reading what is sent to SpaceXAI (xAI), and you can turn it off at any time. Replies can be wrong; check them before you rely on them.

Hunting laws and safety

Sturlese Field App is a record-keeping tool. You are responsible for following all hunting, wildlife and firearm laws and regulations. Weather, wind, satellite and AI information may be incomplete or wrong; do not rely on it for safety decisions.

Ending your use

You can delete your account in the app at any time (Profile → Delete account). Club admins may remove members who break these terms.

Disclaimers

Sturlese Field App is provided "as is" without warranties to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app.
